FAILE x BAST Deluxx Fluxx Arcade 2010 Exhibit

In admiration of those missed times, street art teams FAILE and BAST incepted the Deluxx Fluxx, a grand old-fashioned arcade on Allen Street of Lower East Side. Pasted with FAILE and BAST posters, the first unassuming storefront takes on a different personality altogether with its lined arcade units. Salvaged and restored, to FAILE’s specifications with the help from Eric Ishii Eckhardt of Adadpted Studio, each is now a canvas for interactive video art. Insert a free, FAILE & BAST specifically pressed token, the machine goes onto a 30-second convulsion, deluging players with a burst of animation.

As with all arcades, the best is hidden well behind the labyrinth a blacklight room for foosball. Tricked out in glowing artworks, the room quickly creates a discombobulation, without assistance from alcohol. Staying too long and it becomes a test of courage to see who can’t get ill from the visual distortion. The FAILE x BAST Deluxx Fluxx Arcade is FREE and open to the public Wednesday to Sunday, from 3 PM to Midnight.
