Not just a center for sports, Nike Stadium is the center for culture, art, and everything about passion. And in view that the 2010 FIFA World Cup is coming up really soon on Jun 11, nothing describes passion quite as well as the fanatical fury soccer fans have for the sport. In rallying for the most anticipated sports fanfare for the year, Nike has been opening up its Nike Stadium venture in major cities around the world, including Berlin, Paris, Tokyo, London, and now, Amsterdam. For the Amsterdam Stadium, Nike has teamed up with local retailer, Precinct 5, to temporarily transform its KUUB designed space into a World Cup and soccer inspired gallery.
Nike Stadium Amsterdam brings a little greenery and a little extra artistic edge into the industrial and minimal Precinct 5 space encased by racks of industrial grade open-shelves. These shelves, hanging from the ceiling and flanking the walls now house fortresses of Nike shoe boxes. Also, to celebrate the opening and kick the Nike Stadium Amsterdam fanfare off the right way, Nike and Precinct 5 has enlisted the help of local artists such as Parra, Mark Sloane, Mister Three, Bruce Tsai, Louis Reith, Joost Stokhof, Lennard Schuurmans to dress the space in their art. For instance, Parra created his over rendition of the “Lace Up, Save Lives” tagline for the (NIKE)RED campaign.
Check out the newly transformed space and some images of the work in progress. Enjoy!
