All talk about the mythical Jedi forces aside, who would have thought the adidas Originals neighborhood comprises of the dangerous alien bar with some of the universe’s shadiest clientele, Mos Eislehy Cantina on the planet of Tatooine? And that Mos Eisley Cantina will be broadcasting 2010 FIFA World Cup like ye old regular pub?
The latest installment to the adidas Originals “The Street Where Originality Lives” campaign celebrates the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup and brings the sportswear label’s convoy of heavyweight spokesperson including Snoop Dogg, David Beckham, comedian Jay Burachel of She’s Out of My League, Ciara, Ian Brown, DJ Neil Armstrong, Daft Punk and Franz Beckenbauer to Mos Eisley of Cantina (which happened to be broadcasting the 2010 FIFA World Cup) to have them hang out with your favorite Star Wars characters– Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and C3PO– with the help of Lucasfilm Ltd.
The best part about this entertaining video lies in how the adidas Originals stars work their own narrative trajectory in one of the most memorable scenes of Star Wars. David Beckham being recruited by Jabba the Hut’s crew to play on his team in a planet far far away? Check. Jay Burachel awkwardly causing a shoot out in the bar? Check. Snoop Dogg with some snappy repertoire and lightsaber action? Double check.
