Distorted illusions among man-made relics and natural borne organisms, the fantastical painted landscapes by artist Greg “Craola” Simkins are neither hindered by the physical realities, linear motion of time, nor limits of imagination. Instead, new dimensions or realms, both alien and familiar at the same time, are expressed through each paint strokes. Taking cues from his recent trips to Hawaii, Simkins “recreated” islands of paradise through his latest collection of 10 acrylic paintings and 20 ink/graphite prints titled “Inside the Outside”, a hallucinatory exercise of what Joshua Liner Gallery called “eco-fantasy”.
The “Inside The Outside” Exhibition, Greg Simkins’ latest works, will be on display starting this weekend, till Tuesday, July 1st, at Joshua Liner Gallery in Chelsea. The gallery will also be hosting a special opening reception tomorrow evening as well.
