It has been more than half a year sinceGUCCI embarked on its international pop-up sneaker journey withGUCCI Icon-Temporary Tokyo. The jet-setting retail venture not only features exclusive sneaker designs for each location, the global luxury sneaker fanfare also drew in Grammy award winning producer/DJ/musician extraordinaire, Mark Ronson, to put his artistic two pence into some exclusive GUCCI Ronson sneakers. After successful runs in New York City, Miami and London, GUCCI Icon-Temporary has finally kicked off its final leg of the tour in Tokyo, and they are determined to go out not just with a bang, but multiples sonic booms and sparkles. GUCCI Icon-Temporary is held in GUCCI Shinjuku, and that’s where the opening party took place as well.
The opening party took up two floors of GUCCI Shinjuku and guests mingled and roamed the newly decorated space which is also flanked with special interactive media walls. These walls allow the users to “wear” the sneakers displayed behind the window virtually by standing on a specific marked spot. One will be able to see himself in the Gucci sneakers displayed and the picture taken and displayed on the wall can be downloaded to ones phone immediately via QR codes supplied.
The event was attended by many notable guests including model Ai Tominaga, Miss Universe, Sam Sparro, Mark Ronson, Theophilus London of Chauffeur, photographer and director, Mika Ninagawa, navigator of J. Wave Radio, Andrea Pompilio, DJ Verbal & Yoon. The night’s music fanfare was supplied by the multi-talented Mark Ronson, DJ Verbal and his wife, Yoon, and Chauffeur. The store is set to run through July 4, so if you will be in Tokyo before then, do drop by, check out the exclusive sneakers and the interactive wall. via: GUCCI/Tokyo Dandy
