Finally, to stop Nike sneakerheads from turning into primitive hunters and gatherers, Freshness co-founder Dan Hwang was at the Nike Sportswear Greater China Media Summit for its upcoming Fall/Holiday 2010 preview, and we have turned the previous forage of bite-sized and slightly dissatisfying splatter of information into one detailed and extensive post, including detailed shots of some of the upcoming styles that can be anticipated from Nike Sportswear. First up is the women’s line-up, which Nike Sportswear has taken care to revamp both technically and stylistically, and added an interesting collaborative focal point (a collaboration with Maharam) into the mix for the ladies as well.
Since Fall/Holiday 2010 is all about running, Nike Sportswear has taken care to refit some of the classic Nike silhouettes for the ladies’ more delicate feet. For instance, the Nike Air Force 1 High has been remade into a lightweight, Nike Air Feather High, with a reduced-weight upper. Stylistically, it is quite a relief to see that just because these are released for women, the collection isn’t heavily doused in Skittles rainbow shades, save for the Air Feather High in top-to-toe pink which is excusable because it has been well executed with a great mix of materials ranging from reptilian printed leather to a metallic Swoosh.
Of course, the highlight of the season is the collaboration with Maharam, where the duo came together to render a collection of Nike WMNS Dunk High Skinny in special Maharam fabric which are interesting to touch and look, but very subtle in terms of aesthetics because of the muted shades.
For those who are more adventurous, an interesting piece to perhaps acquire (especially for the ladies who have been into the Minnetonka moccasin look), is the Nike WMNS Chukka Moc, which is easily explained, a slouchy, comfortable mix of the Native American moccasin with sneakers. Perfect for ladies who are looking for something comfortable to wear with dresses, shorts and everything in between, this is a standout piece for those who are searching for the balance between sneakers and stylish footwear.
