Just kicked off today is one of the key directional footwear trade shows in the industry, COMPASS. COMPASS is brought to you by the same team, BPMW, who was behind the celebrated and lauded (capsule) trade show. Changing the concept of what the footwear industry is all about, COMPASS, has shown that for men, shoes are no longer just categorized into sneakers and dress shoes, and for the ladies, the choices are as vast as ever, but the show will give all a good inkling of what is available and what the trends are for women this coming season, so as to streamline the creations and save only the best as necessity.
Some of the key labels have previously showcased a portion of most of their Spring/Summer 2011 collection at (capsule), such as Mark McNairy New Amsterdam, Timberland and Generic Man. But other notable labels to look out for include Opening Ceremony (who has been leading the shoe game for the past few seasons not only with collaborations (remember the Chole Sevigny collaborative buckle wedge from Fall/Winter 2009 which swept the stylish ladies off their feet literally?), classic ballet flats maker Repetto, handmade, artisan-grade footwear from Matt Bernson and the classic Red Wing Shoes.
The show will be going on for two days only, today and tomorrow, so be sure not to miss out, otherwise it will be six months of not being in the know first-hand, and that sure doesn't work for those aspiring to be making markets and tastes.
