A battle draws near for nations as 24 of them prepare for FIBA World Cup, the basketball variant of the more popular FIFA World Cup. For 2 weeks starting on August 28th, the nation of Turkey will become the center stage for these 24 nations, fosters competition among the new comers and re-ignite rivalries for veterans.
In showing their unwavering support, hundreds of Chinese basketball fans descended upon the Nike sponsored Dong Dan Basketball Park in Beijing yesterday afternoon for a pep rally of mammoth scale. Dubbed “Ignite! Sharing A Common Dream For Basketball”, the rally was a culmination of a month-long affair across 15 Chinese cities showcasing their love and commitment to the sport.
Led by coach Jonas Kazlauskas and raising NBA star Yi Jianlian, the Chinese Men’s National Basketball Team will be a formidable opponent not to those in the running for the FIBA World Cup title end of this month, but for the 4 other teams to participate in the first ever World Basketball Festival in New York City starting next week. Let the battle begin!
