First spotted by yours truly in the adidas Originals x Star Wars Cantina film released prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, one of the new kicks to be hitting racks for Star Wars’ continued partnership with adidas Originals is the Top Ten Low “R2-D2 + C-3Po”. When the kicks first debuted, they were donned by the Sorcerer’s Apprentice and one of America’s funniest man, Jay Burachel in the adidas Originals Star Wars Cantina film.
Perhaps riding on an interesting burgeoning trend of wearing two different sneakers on each feet (remember Justin Theroux at the Iron Man II premiere?), the new adidas Originals x Star Wars Top Ten Low S.W. pays tribute to C-3PO on the right, and R2-D2 on the left. The tongue tags feature C-3PO and R2-D2’s portraits respectively, and the sneaker uppers are an interesting mix of half gold and half white with silver and blue three-stripes, split right down the vertical middle. As an added thoughtful detail, the sneakers also feature lace jewels engraved with the words “DROIDS”. Set to release in September 2010, these shoes and the thoughtful homage to the movie’s dynamic droid duo, very much the Star Wars droid equivalent of Batman and Robin, have perhaps set the karmic record straight for them being denied entry into the Cantina bar.
