World Basketball Festival – Jordan Brand Pop-Up Shop At Atmos NYC | Event Recap

By - August 12th, 2010

This tribute is more than just an inauguration of a sporting event or about a storefront. Instead, its about a commitment from a least likely source. Long before the once blighted neighborhood of Harlem became a hotbed of real estate developments and magnet for trend setters, Tokyo’s retailer atmos took a leap of faith when the realization came to its owner, Hommyo Hidefumi, the need to satisfy the countless sneaker aficionados in the under-served area. Though others followed suits, atmos NYC remains the few original pioneers in the modern Harlem Renaissance, a fact not lost on Jordan Brand as it kicks off World Basketball Festival with an one-of-the-kind pop-up store. Finished entirely in white and Carolina Sky Blue (or University Blue), the Jordan Brand Pop-Up Store at atmos NYC is the first of its kind, offering a myriad of exclusives not found anywhere else. Offerings include:

  • Air Jordan IX (9) For The Love Of The Game Edition with Skullcandy headphones
  • Air Jordan VII (7) Olympic Edition with Skullcandy headphones
  • Cole Haan For The Love Of The Game Products
  • Women’s For The Love Of The Game baby tee (exclusive since Jordan Brand no longer produce women’s apparel)
  • Jordan figurines of Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade (limit: 6 of each)

Taking the honor as the store’s centerpiece is a Team Jordan Suzuki Motorcycle in Carolina Sky Blue (listed with a price of $25,000)  In celebration of its opening, selective group of media, guest, along with Hommyo Hidefumi ,Jordan Brand Creative Director Mark Smith, hip-hop stars Bun B., Fabulous, and Jadakiss enjoyed an evening of champagne, hors d’oeuvre, as well as trading stories about their Jordan experience. In the meantime, the Jordan Brand Pop-Up Store at atmos NYC will open its doors to the general public starting tomorrow with the release of Skullcandy collaboration headphones sets.
