ASR Marketplace 2010 – Surf + Skate Tradeshow In San Diego | Event Overview

By - August 13th, 2010

Right across from the historic district of downtown San Diego, the annual ASR Marketplace kicked off once again, uniting surf, skate, swim and youth culture all under one roof also known as the San Diego Convention Center. ASR focuses on some of your favorite summer action sports label (though skating is really relevant all year) such as Roxy, Billabong, RVCA, Volcom, Quiksilver, VANS, Nixon, DC and more.

For a duration of three days, not only will the 750 and more labels be showcasing next seasons trends, a range of seminars and exhibitions are also held in conjunction with the event. For instance, Billabong has put up the “Billabong Art of Shaping Auction” where notable designers and figures including Shawn Stussy of Stussy has designed surf boards to be put up for auction.

On a pushier note, a skateboarding contest featuring a grand prize of $10,000 will also be held later today at ASR. In terms of pulling tricks to draw attention to booths, DC has brought out their rally cars and bikes, and Volcom is hosting an electro beach themed party that can only be subtly described as the acid drenching the entire booth. Check out the overall look of the event and stay tuned for more coverage to come in the next few days.
