Keeping with the momentum gained during last week’s World Basketball Festival, Nike, or more specifically Nike SB, returned to Harlem’s Polo Ground Housing Project and Rucker Park for an introduction/demonstration session with pro skater Paul Rodriguez and the rest of Nike SB team riders. In conjunction with the new Nike SB Zoom Paul Rodriguez IV (P-Rod 4), set to launch this Saturday, Nike SB constructed a temporary skate park within the court yard of Polo Ground Housing Project. With DJ Parler spinning, emcee Bobbito Garcia and original Zoo Yorker, Dave Oritz preceded over the festivities as P-Rod, Theotis Beasley, Daniel LeBron, Ishod Wair, Yongess Amrani, Erik Koston, and Shane O’Neill took turn at a run or two. In the midst of all the actions, BMX rider Nigel Sylvester stopped by to cheer on from the sideline. Afterwards, Nike SB organized an autograph session where P-Rod, Koston, and the rest of SB crew meet and greet fans who attended the event, some came as far as Texas. In the meantime, a special Nike SB exhibition at the Nike Stadium New York event space on Bowery will take place in the coming weeks.
