On most afternoons, if he’s not seen in the recording studio or behind a mix table, you will DJ Clark Kent in the workshop behind Nike Sportswear 21 Mercer, contemplating on the newest silhouette or rationalizing the wild colorways for his latest sneaker. No wonder Kent has an enviable collection of original designs. One that has a different pair for each day of the year, for the next 3 years!
After a run-in with Kent and Nigel Sylvester over the weekend at the Air Force 1 documentary premiere, we bumped into CK once again during last evening’s Nike SB Private Party. With the room darken, it was difficult to tell what Kent has on the first time around. So we guessed it as the very rare Yellow Lobster Nike SB Dunk by Boston’s Concepts, not noticing the bright blue Nike Swoosh on the side, 1st strike. Having another go at it, we blurted out Newcastle Brown Ale. It was close, but still not quite. Finally, Kent interjected with this Nike SB Dunk Force 1 in Newcastle Brown Ale colorway. It isn’t quite a fusion or hybrid since the design elements remained in place. Instead, its simply a Nike SB Dunk upper sewn onto a Nike Air Force 1 sole. And like all Nike SB Dunk Force 1, this Newcastle Brown Ale colorway is an one-of-one creation.
