After building excitement via her Twitter account yesterday, Britney Spears and UK’s POP Magazine unveiled 2 covers for the upcoming September issue. Art directed by Takashi Murakami, the covers with Japanese inscriptions, are exploits of the so-called Lolicon genre, a derivative of the often misunderstood Otaku (or geek) culture that Murakami often draw inspirations from, the other being a cosplay music video with actress Kirsten Dunst and director McG in Akihabara Majokko Princess. The 2 covers feature Spears in two poses as a blushing bride and a schoolgirl in swimsuit. Murakami also did an extensive pictorial where he “re-invented” the former pop music sensation. The September issue of POP Magazine, featuring Britney Spears by Takashi Murakami will be on the newsstand or bookstores on September 1st.
