Los Angeles’s Aloe Blacc has dubbed his own sound as “Brand New Old Soul”, which for him, is a package of handmade Soul rhythms and lyrics with a social consciousness. Blacc’s rise to the spotlight and fame came after his worldwide hit “I Need A Dollar” was adopted as the theme of HBO’s hit series “How To Make It In America”. This season, Carhartt has joined hands with the new Soul on the scene to present Blacc’s first major European Tour with Stones Throw Records. Blacc will be touring Europe with his band, “The Grand Scheme” for the last weeks of September and all of October, introducing his new longplayer, “Good Things”.
To help celebrate the tour, Carhartt has created a special limited edition Aloe Blacc European Tour T-Shirt. As a side event of the tour, Carhartt is also celebrating the release of CD, “Dark End of the Street” which was compiled by Stones Throw Records and its sister labels, Now-Again and Soul Cal, specially for Carhartt. It features danceable Soul, Funk and Boogie performed by artists such as Mayer Hawthorne, Dam-Funk and Paul White.
“Dark End of the Street” will be available at all Carhartt Stores and retailers, but the T-Shirt is strictly exclusive to Carhartt stores. However, the CD comes as a gift with purchase when you bring home the Aloe Blacc European Tour T-Shirt.
