His opening album statement, “I figured I’m not a nice guy” may be a good one to follow Kanye West’s eccentric performance of “Runaway” on the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards this year. Anticipation has been heated, especially when the brilliant Kanye West released the next track, “Take One for the Team”, in the G.O.O.D. Friday series this last weekend, which features Keri Hilson, Pusha T and Cyhi the Prynce. As Mr. West finishes up his new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, his devoted listeners wait anxiously to see what the grand finale entails. However, according to Kanye’s recent tweet, a roadblock may have descended. He stated that his new album cover, painted by George Condo (whom Yeezy has been working with quite closely with regards to his recent releases) was “banned’ by Def Jam, which may be a stouter expression for “strongly discouraged”. As provocative as the cover may appear to some audiences, he tweeted in rebuttal, “So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can’t have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings?” Artistic, controversial or whatever the final album cover ends up being, it’s certain that we are eagerly awaiting for the album to drop.
