First Outer Space foursquare Check In | Unveiled New NASA Explorer Badge

The likes of social media and location-based service made a giant leap today as http://nasa.gov” target=”_blank”>NASA Astronaut http://twitter.com/astro_wheels” target=”_blank”>Douglas H. Wheelock, Commander of http://nasa.gov/mission_pages/station/expeditions/expedition25/” target=”_blank”>Expedition 25, made the first “check-in” from outer space on the popular social media and location-based platform http://foursquare.com” target=”_blank”>foursquare. With assistance from upstart creative agency http://jess3.com” target=”_blank”>JESS3 and NASA, Commander Wheelock was able to check-in at the International Space Station, some 220 miles in orbit above Earth. In becoming the first human to ever check-in from space, Commander Wheelock (call sign “http://twitter.com/astro_wheels” target=”_blank”>Astro Wheels“) unlocked a brand new foursquare badge – NASA Explorer.
