Lyme disease, it usually comes and goes as an afterthought on newspaper, tv news, and online media. But for Matthew Murray, Sport Marketer and Advocate for Oakley, its quite personal since his mother quiet struggle with the debilitating disease for the last decade. To raise awareness of the often under reported illness, Murray and Oakley is hosting a day-long event at the eyewear flagship store in SoHo New York. Open to the public, visitors get the opportunity, via raffle, to win a wide range of sports memorabilia and limited-edition Oakley products signed by Shaun White, Lance Armstrong, Andre Agassi and others. With a custom music mix by DJ Jayceeoh as the backdrop, guests are welcome to enjoy complimentary food and drinks starting at 4 pm this afternoon. In addition, Benj Gershman, bassist and co-founder of O.A.R. will be performing live in store as well. All prize winners will be announce at 7 pm this evening. To reach an even greater audience, Murray will run on behalf of his mother (or “Momma” as he calls her) and other Lyme disease sufferers this Sunday, November 7th, in the ING New York City Marathon.
