Ronnie Fieg x MERRELL MERRELL Wilderness Boots Collection

You could say this was a project 28 years in the making. After several hints on his website the last few weeks, footwear designer Ronnie Fieg finally unveiled his partnership with MERRELL. Introduced in 1982, a year after the performance footwear was founded by Clark Matis, John Schweitzer, and Randy , the Wilderness was the model that put the newly established company onto outdoor aficionados and the growing market that catered to them. Its remarkable construction, an ingenious one-piece leather process that kept out water and dirt since there were no seams, plus an already proven Vibram outsole, made the Wilderness a fast favorite. So in the tradition of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, Fieg retained most of the original attributes that had the Wilderness attained a near legendary status in the hiking/mountaineering circle. One exception was the color, 3 new additions of oily chestnut suede, oily beige suede, and dark brown oily leather. Each pairs crafted in Italy, as with the original Wilderness 2 decades ago. The x MERRELL Wilderness Collection is set to release this Friday, November 12, exclusively through David Z. flagship store and its online store.

These are not Ronnie's gig by a long shot. I bought two of these colorways at Merrell in Rome three years ago and the dark brown have been around forever. Bad form.
