It is a known fact that despite numerous legislation and initiatives, the public school systems across United States are in dire straits. The current economic downturn exacerbates the situation even more, with municipalities shutting down not just extracurricular programs, but entire school as a whole. To address the growing concern, Staple Design and Reed Space, along with CAA Foundation and Bing.com, formulated REDU: HOMEROOM (REthink, REform and REbuild) , a creative movement that in their hopes will alleviate a key component to the problem funding. Working in conjunction with 5 world renowned artists: Scott Campbell, Jose Parla, Neck Face, Luis Gispert, Lucien Marc-Smith, who each contribute an original artwork to the cause. Reed Space then replicated a limited series of posters, t-shirts, totes, and other merchandises for sale, all with the intent to raise money for Donors Choose, a non-for-profit organization which links up donors with classroom and school programs in need. The exhibition, along with mini store-in-store concept, opened its door last night, with visitors from MISHKA, ALIFE, SHUT Skateboards, NSW 21 Mercer and more. It will continue to be on display at Reed Space next 2 weeks. In meantime, the limited edition collaborative products are on sale on Reed Space online as well. Of course, 100% of the proceeds from sale will go to Donors Choose.
