The New Balance collaboration family has grown in recent seasons; it now includes big-business fashion retailers (think J. Crew), and a much more elite partner: NEXUSVII. After working on a CM998 released last August, New Balance and NEXUSVII are now releasing a co-designed CM1700. The CM1700 is a model that riffs on design cues from some of the Boston-based brand’s iconic 1980’s running shoes, and incorporates a more modern New Balance ABZORB midsole – which fits the design ethic of NEXUSVII founder Tomohiro Konno, who in a recent interview described his creative process with a Japanese proverb that loosely translates as “find something new by reviewing the past.” As for the design, NEXUSVII interpreted the shoe in a light cream suede, with a solid black sole, and a red footbed bearing a NEXUSVII crest. The NEXUSVII x New Balance CM1700 is available now from Tokishirazu.
