Italian eyewear maker Super, launched in 2007, has quickly become recognized for high quality, an up-to-the-second style, and, of course, lots of love from some trendsetting celebrities and musicians – Kanye, Sienna Miller, Jessica Alba, and Valentino Rossi are fans, as is Pedro Winter. For Winter 2010, the brand is introducing an updated take on it’s Andrea model: the Andrea Francis, in metal and acetate. The updated profile strikes a pretty delicate balance between frame types: it has a solid acetate bridge upper, and thinner metal lens rim around the bottom, with a combination of the materials making up the arms and earpieces. It’s a given that someone has attempted such a mix before, but Super really makes the hybrid work: it’s got great contrast between thick and thin, metal and acetate. As they’ve done since the beginning, Super uses high-grade Zeiss lenses, which are available both clear and tinted. The are also two frame options – a classic tortoiseshell, and black, that is all 1950’s nerd chic. Not every pair of glasses works with every face or style, but if these work for you, you’ve got great Winter eyewear. Check out all of the versions after the jump – these are smart.
