Nike Sportswear 21 Mercer Black Friday 2010

If you had the courage to venture out yesterday, you will notice something quite peculiar about this year’s Black Friday, the lack of stampede inducing crowds. With the exception of large box retailers, most queues, especially those in SoHo, had a gathering of less than 100 people. This is not to say that there were no shoppers. Instead, their arrivals were orderly ones, especially those who stopped by Nike Sportswear on 21 Mercer Street. With endless offerings of holiday cookies, hot chocolate and marshmallows, the flagship included several special offerings for Black Friday weekend. Footwear from the Athletics Far East Collection, in its entirety with Air Moc AFE and SFB Chukka AFE, made its debut stateside, so did the highly anticipated 2010 Doernbecher Freestyle Collection, at least the first half of it. One other coveted creation was the AF1 Destroyer Collection, also known as 1664 Pack in celebration of New York City’s founding, now available as well.

Being that Black Friday is more of an annual tradition, 21 Mercer offered more than just product launches yesterday. Ragged up inside was the Nike Mobile Customization Lab, were buyers of the new Air Force 1 Foamposite Black could laser-etch tags of their selection. New to the Lab’s list of arsenals was a computerized embroidery machine, able to customize any Nike Destroyer Jacket to the customer’s liking. Now, if you didn’t get the opportunity to visit 21 Mercer on Friday because other engagements to attend to. The Mobile Customization Lab, along with all other special product releases, are still available now till this Sunday, not including the hot chocolate and cookie of course.
