Before there was Originals, there was Equipment – that’s the short version of lifestyle-influenced marketing at adidas. During the 1990’s, adidas Equipment was the division at Three Stripe that was putting out the most forward-thinking athletic designs. The 1990’s was a classic, if overlooked, era in at adidas – completely overshadowed by the larger-than-life Shelltoe movement. Now that 1990’s heritage, and the Equipment division, is being resurrected. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of an iconic early 1990’s shoe from adidas Equipment, the EQT Support, adidas is reissuing the shoe in a classic colorway. The overall design, which worked so well in 1991, has not been tinkered with. It’s still ultra-lightweight in a mesh and synthetic upper, just updated with a contemporary color scheme of strong, neutral gray, black and white, with Support lace locks in subtle green. adidas Equipment seems to be rolling out first in the UK, and the EQT Support is set as a UK exclusive to Foot Patrol, with a release date set for December 4th. It’s a well executed re-release, and hopefully means good things are to come from adidas Equipment. Check out the detailed images after the jump.
