An ode to the accomplishments of 2 great men civil right activist Martin Luther King Jr. and NBA great Spud Webb, online sneaker forum KENLU.net created the Dream, an exact facsimile from the iconic footwear label PONY. Behind this collaboration is a noble cause, to dismiss all forms of prejudice and discrimination. On the left midsole is the statement “Not By Color”, an obvious reference to Martin Luther King Jr., while on the right is the declaration of “Not By Size”, alluding to PONY sponsored NBA pro Spud Webb, who at 5-foot-7 became the shortest player to won the Slam Dunk contest. Comprised of canvas upper in black, red heel tabs with KENLU’s emblems, and a pair of laces in contrast colors of black and red, the sneakers also boast an unique oiled leather tongue, an exhaustive treatment found only the most expensive leather ware. With only a few units produced, the KENLU x PONY Dream will be available for on December 11th at select PONY dealers in Asia. To lessen the rush and demand, KENLU will be taking pre-order reservation this Saturday, December 4th on its online forum. Information to come in the near future on whether the collaboration will be available outside of Asia.
