It’s hard to imaging that one jacket has gotten so much attention, but just looking back over the past few months it’s clear that Nike Sportswear has a major success in the Destroyer Jacket. It’s actually not that surprising though; in addition to incorporating the Varsity style that is so huge this year, it also manages to convey classic style in an undeniably contemporary and athletic way. It also has proven to be quite the canvas for a variety of celebrities, athletes, and celebrity athletes: we’ve seen versions customized by action sports athletes Paul Rodriguez and Nigel Sylvester, as well as some of Nike’s traditional sports stars, like Lebron James and Darrelle Revis. We also previewed the customization project from Nike Stadiums that will let everybody else customize there very own Destroyer Jacket. That project is now coming to Nike’s outpost on the Bowery, starting December 17th. Nike is taking this seriously; you’ll need to contact them to work with a design consultant on your jacket, and opportunities are very limited. But the results are potentially stunning, and very special, as seen in the gallery of jackets created by Darrelle Revis, Amar’e Stoudemire, and the NSW crew. Check them out after the jump; there is some beautiful styling, as well as some absolutely classic imagery. via: Nike Stadium.
