All the speculation can come to rest now. A group of technology reporters received invitations from Verizon Wireless today. All for a special press event at New York City's Frederick P. Rose Hall in Lincoln Center next Tuesday, January 11th. Though the invites did not reveal any details about the event, Wall Street Journal confirmed with anonymous sources that the press conference will be the official unveiling of the anticipated Apple iPhone 4 for Verizon Wireless. The Journal also reported that in addition to Verizon Preside & COO, Lowell McAdam, Apple Co-Founder and CEO, Steve Jobs, might make an appearance too.
If its true, this is a potential windfall for both Apple and Verizon. With Droid phones gaining in market share, this opens up another market for Apple while Verizon, already leading the service provider industry here in the U.S. with its connectivity and speed, will pull away even more from its closest competitor, AT&T. More information to come next week.
