As the season’s first snowflakes drifted into view, men in bulky winter clothes carefully displaced the precious cargo from their flatbed. The cargo was not only a 16-foot tall giant, but a guest of honor from Hong Kong. The short film by creative collective Paper Fortress Films, with its serene music by Sebastien Tellier as the backdrop, documented the installation process of largest creation by artist Brian Donnelly, or best known as KAWS, thus far the giant COMPANION sculpture. Also known as “Passing Through”, the figurine started its journey from Hong Kong to the mound right outside of The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in Connecticut. It is on display as part of the museum’s sculpture garden from now till June 5th, 2011, with an official dedication to take place on January 30th . Enjoy!
