The Xs mark the spot. 2010 has been a whirlwind year for KAWS, from book tour to his first major solo exhibition, and now the premiere of the OriginalFake‘s spring/summer collection for 2011, there is simply no time to rest for the artist. If last year was an indicator 2011 will be another stellar year for the KAWS’ collaborative label with Japan’s MEDICOM TOY. And if such predication is a bit premature, simply look at the expansive product line, a bit more than last year’s. As with the previous season, the centerpiece of the new collection, aside from graphic tees, is its outerwear line.
Technical fabrics meet traditional tailoring; the designs are more fitted than previous silhouettes. Instead of one, there are two varsity jacket, plus Gore-Tex anorak and down vests. Still there is room for experiment, like gingham tailored jacket in Gore-Tex Windstopper material. This isn’t your grandfather’s dinner jacket anymore… See the rest of OriginalFake’s outerwear collection for Spring/Summer 2011 after the jump.
