To some, sport is career path. To others, sport is a channel and an outlet. Then there are those who see sport as a lifestyle, an integral part of their daily routine and individual identity. In Nike Sportwear‘s newest exploratory project, a 3-part series across Shanghai, Rio de Janeiro and Los Angeles, the label sought out individuals who let their love of sport define who they are.
In the series’ first stop, Nike Sportswear tapped Shanghai-base photographer Tang Ting to documented the routines of 8 individuals and their kinship with sports. With only a 35mm film camera, Ting captured certain intimacy and immediacy between the subjects and us, the audience in only sequence of 5 images. The resulted work, Look of Sport: Shanghai, came away something unexpected. That despite political ideology, the youth in China today aren’t much different than their peers around the world, with similar aspirations and dreams.
