uniform experiment – Spring/Summer 2011 Collection Lookbook

By - January 28th, 2011

Almost as a cohesive unit to the prior Sex Pistols inspired Nike Dunk Hi, the Spring/Summer 2011 Collection from Japan’s uniform experiment plays of the themes of England’s Mod and Punk Movements. Disenchanted youths run amuck with anarchists parading on the street, the disintegration of social orders and economic stabilities aren’t so far in the distant past or near future, but right now. Derived from principles mentioned in Folk Devils and Moral Panics, authored by Prof. Stanley Cohen, designer Hirofumi Kiyonaga and collaborator Hiroshi Fujiwara sought to create a visualize mode of these ideals. The resulting collection carries hints of the Mod culture, especially the bold checker patterns throughout the silhouettes. Factor in the stud belts and Dr. Martens boots for a good measure of punk representations, the collection achieves the mash up look of an youthful dystopia. The Spring/Summer 2011 Collection from uniform experiment will arrive at select retailers in the coming months.
