Yesterday in Los Angeles at The Vault at the Staples Center, Nike Basketball presented Los Angeles themed footwear for the 2011 NBA All Star Game. The event began with an overview of the Nike Zoom Kobe VI which was a perfect lead up to the All-Star Game footwear presentation by Nike Product Graphic Designer Eric Goto. He started the presentation with the with the East LA inspired pack which is hinted with Dodgers blue, the pack is lead by the East LA Nike Zoom Kobe VI but also includes two Hyperfuse Low and an Air Force 1. The second pack is inspired by the Orange County area, on the Zoom Kobe VI the upper is a print of the beautiful sunsets of the area and this pack also includes two Hyperfuse Low and an Air Force 1. Finally, the last piece is the Hollywood inspired pack which features a 3D themed Zoom Kobe VI where the design utilizes the red and blue of old school stereoscopic 3D processing. The 3D inspiration is also the overarching theme used through out All Star Game footwear, while not directly used, you’ll start to see packaging using a mixture of stereoscopic 3D along with lenticular materials and in some footwear you’ll see the use of lenticular material. Take a look below with photos from the presentation and we’ll follow up with images of the All Star Game Air Force 1s soon.
