No Air Footscape Woven is easy to classify: it’s a moccasin, it’s got ACG neoprene, the weave evokes a sandal, etc. And aesthetically, there is nothing even close. But recent releases of the Footscape Woven have been offering one consistent thing: some of the strongest avant garde design in any Nike footwear. From January’s Gingham Pack, going back to a SOPH. exclusive Lunar Chukkah Woven+, and a rainbow/white Lunarlite Woven Chukka from this past summer, the hybrid has shown a serious design pedigree. Now, for Spring 2011, Nike is releasing another Woven Chukka, in sleek black weave/mesh, with a Free Motion Sole. The shoe manages to represent a combination of technicality, design, and style – no mean feat. While fans of the Woven Chukka will be happy to see this one, it also might temp those on the fence about the more gaudy colors of previous iterations.
