Japanese online retail empire ZOZOTOWN is a taking massive leap into the relief effort of the earthquake and tsunami affected regions in Japan. What many may not know is that the headquarter and warehouse space of Star Today, the parent company of ZOZOTOWN is located in Chiba, which is next to Tokyo, and is still heavily affected by aftershocks. Many have seen efforts by brands and companies in Japan and around the world to produce items, boasting charity intentions.
Although not many companies have done it more wholeheartedly than ZOZOTOWN, as they are donating 100% of the t-shirt sale. ZOZOTOWN will be paying for the cost of the t-shirt and production as well as shipping costs to Japanese customers, ensuring all of the money paid will go directly to the victims. Each t-shirt costs 2,100 yen each and ZOZOTOWN will donate 2,000 yen to Japan Red Cross, leaving only 100 yen sales tax for customers. At the time of writing, ZOZOTOWN has sold 78,061 t-shirts and have already raised 156,122,000 yen (roughly $1.9 million). Variety of colors are available in adult and kids sizes at ZOZOMESSE and orders can be placed from overseas in English. On the front of the t-shirt, there is a simple Start Today logo print, while on the back is the list of over 600 fashion brands who have contributed to this project.
