We covered the full line of Spring 2011 jackets from Penfield a few weeks ago, and here is a more focused look at one of the pieces in the collection, the Russell Zip Jacket. The Russel is an interesting mix of inspirations: it’s constructed from a distressed Hudson Waxed cloth – touching on the micro-trend of waxed materials, and the macro-trend of heritage outdoor wear. Penfield gives the heritage-inspired cloth a new silhouette in the Russell though; it’s slightly reminiscent of a standard windbreaker, with features like elasticized cuffs, angled zip pockets, a drawstring waist, and a venting. Overall, it bridges both worlds very well, and is a great option for those who want something between a Barbour and a Windrunner. The Russell is available in three strong basic colors from Penfield stockists including STAB. Check out all three colors, with feature detail shots, after the jump.
