Before Friday Nights Lights and Glee, there was Slam Dunk, an Illustrated portrayal of high school basketball in Japan by manga artist Takehiko Inoue (井上雄彦). Serialized over the course of 6 years, its mix bag of memorable characters, unbelievable feats, and adolescent angst made it the most popular manga in its genre. Inoue's love for the sport went beyond black and white panels. The manga-ka also set up a competition/scholarship for high school ballers and this recent collaboration with Nike. Based on the Nike Air Zoom Brave IV, the white with blue insets special edition features an embossment of Inoue's doodling in tonal white treatment. Subtle yet fun. Repetition of the same graphic is also on the laces, insole with a larger variant on the tongue tag. In addition to the sneaker, a set of Dri-FIT t-shirt, in blue or white, will be available. Imprinted on each are mottos of encouragement "Draw Your Destiny" and "Listen To Your Inner Self".
