Michael Bastian x Havaianas – Collection Launch | Event Recap

By - April 29th, 2011

Some odd weather we’re having this year. Though its April and the start of spring, the temperature is still close to that of early winter, certainly too cold to think of summer and definitely too cold to think of sandals… that was till we dodged into SoHo’s Lure Fish Bar in New York City for Havaianas‘ newest collection with designer Michael Bastian. Because of his new interpretations of American sportswear, Bastian have won countless accolades from his peers, including 2 nominations for CFDA’s Menswear Designer of the Year title, along with this year’s GQ Fashion Award nomination. With Bastian being synonymous with new Americana, it was the logical pairing between the designer and Havaianas’, the label synonymous with flip-flops. The collaboration went into motion when Bastian featured the Brazilian icons during his runaway show last September, a show centered around nautical heritages of famed explorer Jacques Cousteau and the Navy SEALs. The same 2 themes are found on the Havaianas Collection by Bastian – silhouettes of divers in neon orange or yellow on one set followed by lepoard camouflage pattern on another. 4 designs in all with the camouflage edition available in women’s sizes. All to come in special packaging, including carrying tote, the Michael Bastian x Havaianas Collection is now available at Havaianas’ online store for a limited time only.
