Among the overwhelming number of stories we covered this week, it was great to see the release of several projects benefitting victims of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, from organizations with ties to street art and streetwear; the coalition included Bedwin & the Heartbreakers, Deluxe, Beams, the Ace Hotel - all of whom devoted their creative talents to charity projects. Two other companies with strong Japan ties, Visvim and SOPHNET., also got together this week with two new footwear releases. Obligatory coverage of Supreme also continued, as the Clarks Originals x Supreme desert boot was released (along with a few other choice items). News also broke this week of a Uniform Experiment-inspired collection for Nike, which brings two classic UE influences to the classic All Court. Original Fake made news with a project commemorating the label's 5 year history by revisiting past collaborations. We also saw an interesting collaboration between Jam Home Made and Stussy this week, two labels that are both staying quite busy, and got a look at the comprehensive B.B.U. collection, which brought together Bedwin & the Heartbreakers, Beauty & Youth, UNDFTD, and adidas Originals. And two marketing stories rounded out the news this week: first, the rare publicity blitz from Lamborghini, to promote the new Aventador, included a video spot which was well executed, but perhaps poorly timed for it's earthquake theme. Finally, Apple released the latest item that proves their consumer product genius: the iPhone 4, in white. Check out the details of all of this week's highlights after the jump.

It's been several weeks since Northern Japan was devastated by an earthquake and tsunami, and the country is still tallying the casualties, rebuilding, and trying to gain control of a precarious situation at the Fukushima nuclear facility. And while other events on the global stage are commanding the world's attention, several groups and brands with ties to Japan are doing what they can to highlight the ongoing need for support, both financial and moral.

Visvim and SOPHNET., no strangers to each other, released two new footwear models this week. This latest collaboration includes the classically casual Canvas Lo JP, and is balanced out by a very polished leather boat shoe/moc hybrid, the Moccasin Mid VD.

Supreme x Clarks Originals Desert Chukka

Supreme was back in the news once again this week, with the release of the brand's collaborative Desert Chukka done with Clarks Originals. Supreme made some slight tweaks to the venerable Desert Boot, which is offered an updated range of colors. Other releases included a restock of the KAWS skateboard deck, and several new hat and apparel options.

OriginalFake 5th Anniversary Collaboration Collection

To celebrate it's 5th anniversary, OriginalFake is revisiting some of the labels and artists that the label has worked with in the past - including BAPE, Hysteric Glamour, Neighborhood, and artists Todd James and Eric Parker. The project consists of a range of T-shirts, which will be available exclusively to OriginalFake flagship store in Tokyo startuing Tuesday, May 3rd.

Stussy x JAM HOME MADE Spring 2011 Capsule Collection



Stussy and Jam Home Made are both staying busy this Spring; Stussy with a capsule collections alongside both Perks and Mini and Marvel Comics, and Jam Home Made most recently with a collaboration with Porter. This week brought news of a capsule collection done by Stussy and Jam Home Made together, which consists of Stussy x JAM HOME MADE tee in 7 colorways, 3 versions of the Alex sunglasses, and a JAM Diamond Watch Type 2 for Stussy in silver or black. All available for purchase starting this Friday, April 29th, at Stussy Chapter Stores across Japan, its online shop on ZOZOTOWN, and ISETAN Men's Department Store in Shinjuku.

Bedwin & The Heartbreakers x Beauty & Youth x UNDFTD B.B.U. Collection

Bedwin & The Heartbreakers, Beauty & Youth, and UNDFTD have teamed up on a comprehensive capsule collection, which includes accessories, apparel, and a sneaker done with the help of adidas Originals. The overall feel is fairly reserved: it shows athletic and workwear influences, but keeps them in tight control; splashy graphics are forgone in favor of small details. Case in point: the Superstar, which is free of extraneous external branding, but which features an inspired cork footbed.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 "A Relentless Force" Commercial | Video

Lamborghini, which typically doesn't bother with marketing campaigns, is making a full court press in conjunction with the release of the Aventador - and with the emergence of a large new customer base in China. The latest ad features the Aventador outrunning and outmaneuvering a devastating earthquake. Clearly the campaign concept was created long before the Japan earthquake, but the decision to release the ad might seem in poor taste to some.

Apple iPhone 4 White | Finally Available!!!

There are varying opinions on just what Apple is - a technology company, or a consumer product marketer. The focus on the latter was very evident this week, with the release of the iPhone 4 in white. The phone offers no additional functionality; it's only unique feature it offers users is the ability to signal to others that they own the latest Apple product. And the number of people who want to do just that are making Apple quite a bit of money. So while some in the tech business might grumble about Apple's focus on "cool," shareholders are for the most part still happy.
