A progression in applied materials, Nike Sportswear first launched a completely new rendition of its Windrunner jacket back in 2008 by infusing it with Flywire. Now, 3 years later and on the dawn of another Summer Olympic, Nike Sportswear applied its newest composite material, the Hyperfuse, onto the outerwear that made the Swoosh synonymous with running. To ensure it meet the trifecta of criteria: stability, breathability, and durability. Nike forgo the usual production methods. Instead, its research and development department conceived a methodology in fusing all the necessary components together, much like carbon fiber composite. The resulting material, aptly named Hyperfuse, made its debut last year as part of Nike Basketball product line but will now finally be introduce as an apparel for the first time, as seen in the Nike Sportswear Preview in London last week. Part of a worldwide launch, the Hyperfuse Windrunner from Nike Sportswear will be available at select retailers in the coming weeks.
