MISSONI x CONVERSE Auckland Racer | Detailed Look

A run down on interesting concepts to come seasons ahead during the http://freshnessmag.com/2011/06/20/missoni-x-converse-auckland-racer-missoni-spring-summer-2012-preview/” target=”_blank”>Milan Fashion Week, this collaborative project between Italian fashion house http://missoni.com/” target=”_blank”>MISSONI and http://converse.com/” target=”_blank”>CONVERSE came up first. An extension of the Men’s Collection for Spring/Summer 2012, the knitted Auckland Racer will set the base for the ongoing collaboration. While not a well-known silhouette, the Auckland Racer was one of ‘s first attempt in creating a running sneaker back in 1970s. Soon, it became a popular footwear for those with an active lifestyle yet looking for an in-between footwear between style and function. For this particular MISSONI collaboration, the design teams on both sides re-constituted the Auckland Racer in the famous MISSONI knit pattern as a complement to a set of vintage-style track suit, designed by Ottavio Missoni himself back in 1948. And like the Chuck Taylor All Star that came before it, the MISSONI x Auckland Racer will introduce another set of possibilities for both labels.
