It was a fight to make it this far for Serena Williams. A serious foot injury mid-summer last year routed chances for her to defend her Wimbledon and U.S. Open titles. The former world’s number one female tennis player was dealt another blow early this year when she was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. But true to form, these worries were the least things on her mind as she danced her way to the stage at Nike Tennis “Take Every Advantage” event at NikeTown New York last Friday. Hosted by Terrence J of BET‘s 106 & Park, Williams talked of her aspiration to become a fashion designer and her current game of tennis. Williams also shared about her immediate goals plus her thoughts on her new signature U.S. Open attire from Nike Tennis. In addition, an audience comprised of regional junior tennis program members, middle school students, as well as visiting tourists, all had the opportunities to mark the special occasion with photo booth images, along with the chance to customized their very own t-shirts and AW77 hoodies on the new Nike Customization Trailer parked in front.
For those who missed the festivities, you can catch a glimpse of Serena Williams in her new Night Attire this evening as she plays against Bojana Jovanovsk in Arthur Ashe Stadium of U.S. Open.
