Quirky Ray – Solar Powered Charger

By - October 8th, 2011

Conceptually, solar chargers are great. In practice, not so much, as placement of the device for optimal sunlight is rarely an easy task. Quirky, the global Web-based product development community, has seemingly found the answer: its Ray solar charger features a suction cup encasing the solar cells, so all one has to do to charge one’s device is to plug in the USB cord and stick the Ray right onto a window. A convenient kickstand provides stability and doubles as cable storage. The Ray is available for preorder through Quirky for $39.99, but it won’t go into production until a 2,000-order threshold has been met. (Last time we checked, the magic number was at 788.)
