Yoshida & Co., parent brand to bag and accessories specialist Porter, was founded in 1935, in part to manufacture products used to help with cleanup and recovery efforts in the wake of the devastating Great Kanto Earthquake that laid waste to Tokyo. The superior craftsmanship and timeless design found in their goods sustained the company through the early years, and in 1962 the Porter sub-brand was born. (Originally targeted toward the travel market, the label’s name is derived from the baggage handlers at hotels or airports who assist travelers with their luggage.) To celebrate its 77th anniversary, Yoshida & Co. is partnering with Hamilton, the American watchmaker with an equally rich history, on a Khaki Field Watch. It features a black dial and stainless steel case, printed on the back with a special commemorative inscription, and can be worn with either a classic black leather strap or custom Porter nylon cuff. Limited quantities are up for pre-order now through ZOZOTOWN, with an official launch date scheduled for March 3rd, 2012.
