Ford Flex 2013 Edition

The 2013 Ford Flex is set to debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week. Fans of the retro styled crossover will be happy to know the vehicle retains is distinctly boxy shape, even as it gets a front-end makeover. Gone is the three-bar grille, and in its place is a single chrome band bracketed by smaller headlamps. The refashioned nose features the Flex badging once exclusive to the Titanium trim, while the only Ford badges on the exterior are confined to the wheel center caps and a corner of the tailgate. The 3.5-liter V6 is carried over from the 2012 model but a powertrain update improves the horsepower from 265 to 285, as well as mileage in both city and highway by one extra mile per gallon (18 and 25 mpg, respectively). Ford’s 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 with standard all-wheel drive remains an option. Inside, one finds a refreshed dashboard, with the instrument cluster now equipped with the latest version of MyFord Touch. There’s also push-button start, rain sensing wipers and added safety features like optional rear inflatable seatbelts and various collision avoidance technologies.
