New Era Introducing: London Gallery Launch

London has had a solid streetwear scene for decades, with roots all the way back to the casual/hooligan culture of the 1980′s. And while that era laid the groundwork for some big names in European streetwear (think labels like Silas, CP Company, and modern-day favorite Stone Island), it seems London is having a modern-day revitalization of the scene, with the opening of a flagship Supreme door just last September, and events like the New Era Introducing: London Gallery Launch. The event echoes the New Era XC series, which visited London earlier this Summer. New Era Introducing follows a similar format: bringing some of the best up-and-coming design talent, from around the globe, together to compete and collaborate using the venerable 5150 fitted cap as a canvas. This event was “won” by Lina Al Amoudi, the Dubai-based visual artist. Other notable entries came from Krakow-born Mateusz Sypien, and native Londers Alis Pelleschi and Oscar Medley-Whitfield. The designs were all showcased at Shoreditch Underground, on Pedley St, E1 5EW, but next up is Milan, where the event will be held on November 18th and 19th.
