Living up to the revered name of Carroll Shelby, the new Ford Shelby GT500 for model year 2013 roared out of the Ford press outlet this morning. Powered by a new 5.8-liter V8 and a giant supercharger, the Ford Shelby GT500 embodies the storied era of the “pony cars” and hot rods. Able to churn out a stunning 650 horsepower, with 600 pound-feet of torque to spare, a new Brembo braking system and AdvanceTrac help to wrangle in those wild horses. Together with the Bilstein electronic adjustable suspension, steering assist levels, and a launch control feature, a former unwieldy beast will be tame enough for dropping off the kids at soccer practice. Just think of it, you will be the coolest parent on your block. The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 with a new Ford 5.8-liter V8 engine will make its debut this week at L.A. Auto Show at Los Angeles Convention Center.
