Those MINI John Cooper Works will have some stiff competition very soon. Already propagating like wildfire all over the isle of Manhattan, Fiat will be introducing the performance driven version of its popular Fiat 500, the Fiat 500 Abarth. Conceived on the ideas first set by car designer Karl Abarth, the Fiat 500 Abarth will be a “small but wicked” speed demon with 160 horsepower to spare. This is largely thanks to a turbocharged 1.4-liter MultiAir engine, which boost the normal output of 140 to 160. To tame this beast, Fiat added an amped-up suspension, aero kit, and a new braking system. Pirelli tires on a selection of 16-inch or 17-inch alloy wheels, in either white or black according to the car’s color. The lush appointment continues onward to its interior, where Fiat quipped it with leather trims, performance instrumentation, even a turbo boost gauge. The Fiat 500 Abarth is set to debut at this week’s L.A. Auto Show with availability to come in the middle of next year.
