While http://marni.com/” target=”_blank”>Marni has been in the news recently for its upcoming http://freshnessmag.com/2011/11/29/marni-for-hm-spring-2012/” target=”_blank”>collection for H&M, the Italian fashion label has been making waves on its own, opening the brand’s biggest flagship to date in Beijing. Designed by London-based architectural firm http://syb.co.uk/” target=”_blank”>Sybarite, the store is located in the Sanlitun district, a popular shopping destination. The two-story building covers 550 square meters and features a quirky design motif, filled with geometric patterns that complement the merchandise. The walls and floor are covered with repeating interlocking octagons, while a pre-existing staircase colored bright orange provides a shock of color as well as an incongruously industrial feel. Meanwhile, stainless steel railings act as fixturing for hangers, but can also be seen as flowing sculpturing that give the space a sense of fulid motion.
