It may sound like an Autobot character from the Transformers movie franchise, but the Optimus Popularis can do more than just transform from robot to car. New from Russian design studio Art Lebedev, the Optimus Popularis programmable keyboard features keys containing a 64 x 64 pixel LCD display, which can be customized to show any variety of letters, images, symbols, shortcuts, and even animation — each key can support 262,144 unique colors and a frame rate of 10fps. The keyboard is configurable for any language or even specific functions for software like Photoshop. Additionally, a customizable display bar running below the function keys can be used to show local weather, stock prices or new email notices. Programming is performed with configuration software included with the keyboard, which is compatible with Windows XP, Vista or 7, as well as Mac OS X 10.5.1 or higher. Available for pre-order directly through Art Lebedev.
