Nerf and basketball have a storied history formed by years of bedroom door dunk contests and refined in office cubicles around the world. Now, with the much-anticipated release of the Nike Zoom KD IV finally set for December 17, Nerf’s relationship with the game is launched to new levels.
Although they were inspired by Keven Durant’s love for Nerf sports and are designed to match his energy on the court, the Zoom KD IV’s aren’t lacking in technical department. This is the first shoe featuring Nike Basketball’s Adaptive Fit system, which includes a strap that wraps up from inside of the upper and integrates into the laces for increased all-around foot support. These Zoom’s also are constructed with Hyperfuse and are topped off with Zoom Air cushioning and the Nerf logo splashed across the tongue.
The bright and loud colorway also includes some more subtle messages: “Big Chucky” is written across the heel in memory of KD’s childhood mentor and coach; the initials “WP” are etched on the toe representing his parents; and a lightning bolt traction pattern represents his teammates on the sole. As a special bonus, Nerf has thrown in a limited edition fist-size basketball and door-mounted hoop to help you break-in your new kicks.
